Today, Monday, August 18th, the Butler community was saddened to hear that Sylvia Kuhn, 67, of Butler, lost her life in a tragic automobile accident at the intersection of Eberhart Road when an eastbound vehicle struck her vehicle on the driver’s side. The eastbound vehicle was being operated by Danielle Zeigler, 19, also of Butler. Zeigler was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital after the accident and treated for minor injuries. Additional facts surrounding this crash are not known at this time as police are still investigating. Area residents claim that this scene is the location of many accidents and that speed and the size of the intersection contribute to many of them. Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Sylvia Kuhn as they cope with this unspeakable tragedy.
The attorneys at want to encourage everyone on the road to practice safe driving habits at all times. Some steps to consider include always looking out for other vehicles even when you are stopped at or proceeding through light controlled intersections. Just because your light turns green, does not guarantee that it is safe to proceed. Always leave a clear distance between you and the vehicle in front of you, and consider stopping the next time you encounter a yellow light instead of trying to beat it. You cannot control the actions of other drivers on the roadway, but you can always control your own. Defensive driving saves lives.
